Pittston native and Miami Dolphins great Jimmy Cefalo will lead the upcoming Pittston Tomato Festival Parade as grand marshal, organizers have confirmed. Cefalo was a standout at Pittston Area before playing at Penn State and then in the NFL.

Gov. Tom Wolf also will walk in the parade, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19, organizer Lori Nocito said.

Nocito said the committee received word of Wolf’s appearance on Wednesday.

“With Jimmy Cefalo as our grand marshal and the governor in our parade, it will surely be a spectacular event,” Nocito said.

Nocito said the parade will be televised on Fox 56 at 11 a.m. Aug. 19 and rebroadcast on the CW at noon Aug. 20.

The Pittston Tomato Festival will be held Thursday, Aug. 17, through Sunday, Aug. 20, in downtown Pittston.
