A wreath-laying ceremony was held Thursday, March 15, in observance of the 25th anniversary of a downtown fire that killed two firefighters, John Lombardo, 25, a member of the city’s fire department, and Leonard Insalaco, 20, of the West Pittston Fire Department. The two died battling a blaze on North Main Street, Pittston, in 1993. The ceremony, held at a monument erected in honor of the firefighters on Kennedy Boulevard, Pittston, was followed by a Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church. Retired Pittston Assistant Fire Chief Bill Williams and West Pittston Assistant Fire Chief Gary Slusser place a wreath in front of the memorial.
