U.M. Church of Pittston plans theater trip to
‘Miracle of Christmas’
United Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church of Pittston will sponsor a bus trip to Sight and Sounds Theater in Lancaster to see “The Miracle of Christmas” on Wednesday, Nov. 8, for the 3 p.m. show. Bus will be at the Pittston Plaza at 8:15 a.m. and will leave promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Price of the trip is $115 per person and includes bus seat, show ticket and lunch at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. Payment in full or a deposit of $60 is due by Sunday, Aug. 27, and final payment of $55 is due by Sunday, Oct. 15.

sets Doo Wop bus trip
United Methodist Church of Pittston will sponsor a Doo Wop Bus Trip on Saturday, Sept. 9, to the American Music Theater in Lancaster. Bus leaves the Pittston Plaza at 10 a.m. promptly. Cost of the trip is $115 and includes bus seat, ticket to show, dinner at the Shady Maple Smorgasbord after the show and driver tip.

First Baptist plans Vacation Bible School

Wyoming U.M. Church plans pork barbecue
Wyoming United Methodist Church, 376 Wyoming Ave., will hold a pork barbecue dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5.
The barbecue dinner will be dine-in picnic style or take-out, with drive through available.
Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12 years old. Tickets will be available at the door.

St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church announces activities
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7 Wood St., Pittston, announced the following activities:
Congregation meeting will be held Sunday, Aug. 6, before the service.
Planning will meet after service Sundays, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20.
Council will meet Sunday, Aug. 16, after the service concludes.
The church will hold a community picnic from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will celebrate its 160th anniversary Sunday, Nov. 12, with a dinner at the Jenkins Twp. Hose Company. The celebration will include a service of Thanksgiving and a dinner from 3 to 6 p.m.
More details about the anniversary celebration will be announced. Sharleen Palaima is planning committee chairwoman.
Outside of council meetings, all events are open to the public.
The church is renting out its lower level for $100 for three hours and $35 for each additional hour, plus $100 returnable security deposit. The hall can accommodate a maximum of 50 people. Email the church to receive photos of the space.

The church has off-street parking, with handicap parking next to the building. There also is an enclosed chair lift.

Prince of Peace plans chicken
Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge will sponsor a chicken barbecue and basket raffle from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, in the parking lot of Arcaro and Genell Restaurant, Main Street, Old Forge.
The barbecue chicken dinner is take out with some limited outside seating. The dinner will be prepared by Arcaro and Genell.
Tickets are $10 and include half a barbecue chicken, pasta salad, corn on the cob, a roll and dessert.
Walk-ins are limited for the event.
