Lutheran Church announces activities
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7 Wood St., Pittston, announced the following activities:
Planning will meet Sunday, Jan. 7, after service.
Council will meet Sunday, Jan. 14, after service.
Christian Education Night is Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. A child-friendly dinner starts at 5:30, followed by interactive lessons and activities. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with cooking, serving and/or cleaning up can contact the church and leave a message for Marcia.
Outside of council meetings, all events are open to the public.
The church has a surplus of sanctuary candles. The candles are available for purchase for $4 each. Contact the church and leave a message if you are interested in purchasing candles.
The church is renting out its lower level for $100 for three hours and $35 for each additional hour, plus $100 returnable security deposit. The hall can accommodate a maximum of 50 people. Email the church to receive photos of the space.
The church has gift cards for a variety of area locations and in a variety of denominations. See Mary Ann Denman or Alan Drummond after any of the services for information.
Game night slated at Langcliffe Presbyterian
Langcliffe Presbyterian Church will host its monthly game night for all ages from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the church, 1001 Main St., Avoca.
Stop by to learn a new game or play an old favorite. All ages are welcome.
Queen of the Apostles selling raffle tickets
Queen of the Apostles Parish is selling tickets for its Pot of Gold Stocking Stuffer raffle. Tickets, which are $10 each, offer a chance to win $75 daily and $100 on Fridays throughout January, as well as $250 on Jan. 15 and $500 on Jan. 1 and 31. Sacred Heart Women’s
Society plans annual
The Women’s Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Dupont, will hold its annual wafer dinner from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at Arturo’s Restaurant, Main Street, Dupont. This year’s dinner will consist of a buffet style menu. All members are invited.
Cost is $10 for each member and $15 for a guest, payable with reservation.

Payment to the Women’s Society may be deposited in the collection basket in an envelope marked “Women’s Society Wafer Dinner” or mailed to the parish office.
