WA, Class of 1978,

sets planning meeting

Wyoming Area, Class of 1978, will hold its 40th reunion Sunday, Sept. 2, at The Checkerboard Inn Pavilion, Kingston Twp. Register on Facebook: Wyoming Area Class of 1978 or email waclassof1978@gmail.com.

The next planning meeting is at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Grotto Pizza, Wilkes-Barre.

Pittston Library

plans book sale

Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library will conclude their two-day book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21. Due to the vast amount of books available, the book sale will be conducted in two locations, at the book store and library.

The sale will feature old books for collectors and new books for readers and will include hard cover, paperback, fiction, nonfiction, biographies, travel, children books, coffee table books, science, sports, audios, DVDs and more.

Raffles on $500 gift cards will be sold at $1 per ticket.

Virginia Augello, Rita Mecadon and Joy Greenwald are coordinators of the bookstore and book sales.

WA Title 1 plans

parents meeting

Wyoming Area Title I will hold a parents meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Wyoming Area Kindergarten Center. Rita Mauriello, Title I coordinator, will present an overview of the Title I and Title II federal programs.

Parent speakers will be Mr. and Mrs. Helal, who will discuss their experience at last summer’s state parent conference at Seven Springs Resort in Chamion. All Title I parents are encouraged to attend. Reading specialists will speak with parents. Light refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded.

U.M. Church of Pittston

sets theater trips

United Methodist Church of Pittston will sponsor the following bus trips in 2018:

Saturday, May 19, American Music Theater, Lancaster, for “Songs of the Silver Screen;” Wednesday, July 25, Hunterdon Dinner Theater, New Jersey, “Nunsense;” Saturday, Sept. 29, American Music Theater, Lancaster, “Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade,” and Saturday, Nov. 3, American Music Theater, Lancaster, 2018 Christmas Show “The First Noel.”

St. John Lutheran

Church lists activities

St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod, 7 Wood St., Pittston, announced these activities:

Week day school is at 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

Planning will meet after service Sunday, May 6. Council will meet after service Sunday, May 13.

Shipped Wrecked, the church’s Vacation Bible School, will be held July 9-13.

Outside of council, events are open to the public.

St. John’s Lutheran Evangelical Church has gift cards available for a variety of locations and in a variety of denominations. See Mary Ann Denman or Alan Drummond after the service.

The church has a surplus of sanctuary candles available for $4 each. Contact the church and leave a message if interested in purchasing them.

St. John the Evangelist

presents Easter music

St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston, will present Easter music at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22. The Easter concert will feature the combined choirs along with many instrumentalists of St. Joseph Marello and St. John the Evangelist.

The concert is free and open to the public. In observance of the Scranton Diocese 150th anniversary. This year’s theme is: The Journey Makes Us One.
