Northeast, Class of 1965, will meet

Northeast High School, Class of 1965, will hold a reunion committee meeting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Colarusso’s in Avoca to finalize plans for a class get-together, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Colarusso’s.

Purse bingo will benefit Tracey’s Hope

Tracey’s Hope Hospice and Pet Rescue will host a designer purse bingo at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 15, at Eagle McClure Hose Company, 375 Milwaukee Ave., Old Forge. Tickets are $20 for 20 games (and 20 purses). There will be special games, a basket raffle and hot food available.

If you are interested in purchasing a ticket, mail a check made payable to Tracey’s Hope to: Tracey’s Hope Purse Bingo, 113 Foote Ave., Duryea, PA 18642. Remember to include the address where the tickets should be mailed. Seating is limited.

Central Catholic, Class of ’55, to meet

The monthly dinner meeting of the Pittston Central Catholic High School, Class of 1955, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Valenti’s, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. All classmates are welcome. For information, call Ky Lazzari at 570-825-2648. Leave a message on the answering machine.

U.M. Church of Pittston sets theater trips

United Methodist Church of Pittston will sponsor the following bus trips in 2018:

Saturday, May 19, American Music Theater, Lancaster, for “Songs of the Silver Screen;” Wednesday, July 25, Hunterdon Dinner Theater, New Jersey, “Nunsense;” Saturday, Sept. 29, American Music Theater, Lancaster, “Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade,” and Saturday, Nov. 3, American Music Theater, Lancaster, 2018 Christmas Show “The First Noel.”

St. John Lutheran Church lists activities

St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod, Pittston, announced the following activities:

Week day school is at 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

Council will meet after service Sunday, April 8.

Planning will meet after service Sunday, April 15.

Shipped Wrecked, the church’s Vacation Bible School will be held July 9-13.

Outside of council, events are open to the public.

Knights will host Opioid Fact Forum

Knights of Columbus President John F. Kennedy 372, Council 948 Assembly and Jacquelines Auxiliary will present an Opioid Fact Forum from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Pittston Memorial Library. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

Program moderator will be Carmen Ambrosino, a 45-year addiction professional. The program also will include Carol Coolbaugh, a community prevention/education advocate and mother who will share her story of loss. Judge Michael Vough, Luzerne County Court, will speak about dealing with the opioid crisis, and Luzerne County Coroner William Lisman will discuss the epidemic in the county and record breaking overdose deaths.
