William Jennings Bryan, who ran for president three times and was a world renown orator, visited West Pittston stumping for Democratic Presidential candidate Woodrow Wilson and local candidates in the run up to the 1912 election. Bryan had a large and loyal following among Democrats and helped Wilson win. In the back seat are Bryan, with the hat and cane, and Joseph L. Cake, a prominent West Pittstonian. In middle seat with arm and hat extended is Warburton Bowman, grandfather of Charles Bowman, who had been a congressman for one term and the mayor of Pittston in 1896.
