There are plenty of February events in Dupont starting with Super Bowl Sunday.
Need some great finger foods for your Super Bowl party? Look no further than Holy Mother of Sorrows Church. The church will hold its annual Super Bowl wing sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the parish hall. Wing choices include: plain, mild, hot, garlic, Parmesan, honey mustard and Cajun. Prices are $10 for a single order of 12; $27 for 36 pieces and $50 for 75 pieces. Blue cheese and celery are included with each order.

On the fun-filled weekend of Feb. 9-10, enjoy the Mardi Gras party hosted by Dupont Progress Committee from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at the Dupont Volunteer Fire Hall.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the Dupont Municipal Office during regular business hours. The buffet menu includes pork chops, sausage and peppers and chicken with a cash bar. Music entertainment will be provided by D.J. Nunsie.
Then on Saturday, Feb. 10, continue the fun at Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 Home Association’s annual Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance. The dance will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. A dinner buffet will be served from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. Music will be provided by Millennium from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The bar will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

Dupont Youth Baseball Association will conduct registration and sign-ups for the upcoming 2018 T-ball/baseball season. Registration is open to boys and girls ages of 3 through 7. There are no residential restrictions to play in Dupont, so all children from the area are welcome. Cost is $25 per player with no additional fundraisers required.
Sign-ups will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Dupont Borough Building. Coaches and volunteers are needed and welcome, as well. Please check the group’s Facebook page for additional information.
Polish American Citizens Club officers
Polish American Citizens Club officers for 2018 are President Neal Elko, Vice President Ron Casper, Secretary Stan Fritz, Treasurer Ed Romanko, Financial Secretary Stanley Knick Jr., Steward Mark Kowalczyk, Assistant Steward James Warunek and Sergeant-at-Arms Adam Chmiel. Directors are Michael A. Kivak, Martin Kuna and Tom Skrzysowski. Joseph Karkut is auditor.
Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 will hold its next monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the post home. Many items of importance will be discussed and committee reports will be given. Commander Mark Roney will preside.
The Home Association meeting will follow.
Food and refreshment will be served after both meetings.

VFW social membership cards for 2018 are now available at the post home. Membership is $12 and is valid through Dec. 31, 2018.
Refuse bills for 2018 have been mailed and are due by Jan. 31. If you have not received your 2018 bill, please call the municipal office at 570-655-6216.
Refuse fees for 2018 are $115 for single family and $85 for seniors. Commercial fee is $150. From Feb. 1-28, there will be a 10 percent late fee added and from March 1-31 there will be an additional 10 percent late fee added.
Anyone not paying by April 1 will be forwarded to the magistrate for collection.
Municipal office hours during January are extended on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling the office if these times are inconvenient.
Dupont residents are reminded the snow ordinance will be enforced this year. After a snowfall, no parking will be allowed on the even side of the street. On the second day after a snowfall, no parking will be allowed on the odd side of the street.
Also, snow cannot be thrown onto streets or within intersections.
Sidewalks must be cleaned within 48 hours after snowfall.
Christmas tree pickup
Dupont Public Works Department will pick up Christmas trees Fridays during January.
Collection weight limit
Residents are reminded there is a 30-pound weight limit on refuse and recycling bags and containers.
Crime Watch meeting
Dupont Crime Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Dupont Municipal Building.
Sacred Heart pierogi prep
It’s time to make the pierogies! Sacred Heart of Jesus Church’s annual Lenten pierogi production will be held Feb. 8 through Feb. 14 in the church hall. The women’s society is asking for help to help make the 18,000 pre-ordered potato and cabbage pierogis.
Day 1, Thursday, Feb. 8, bring your tissues to help peel and fry onions and prep cabbage. Start time is 8 a.m. Day 2, Friday, Feb. 9, fry the cabbage and more onions. Start time is 8 a.m.; Day 3, Saturday, Feb. 10, shred cheese and roll cabbage balls. Start time is 8:30 a.m. Day 4 to Day 8, Sunday, Feb. 11, through Wednesday, Feb. 14, early risers are needed to cook and mash potatoes at 6:45 a.m., then roll balls, make the pierogies and fill the orders from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If the early shift is not for you, the women’s society also needs help from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 11 through Feb. 14 to clean up and prepare for the next day. Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish will hold its first annual flea market Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6.
