WA/PA hockey benefit
Wyoming Area Ice Hockey will host the 19th annual Blue and Gold Skate on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Revolution Ice Rink in Pittston. The combined Wyoming Area and Pittston Area junior varsity team will take on Susquehanna at 7:30 p.m. and the varsity rivalry game between Wyoming Area and Pittston Area will begin at 9:15 p.m. All proceeds from the game admission, raffle baskets and bake sale will go to Kennedy Debo, a fourth-grade student at the Wyoming Area Intermediate Center.
Kennedy’s dream is to visit Paris and to become a veterinarian. She is a cheerleader for the WWE Panthers and has a love for soccer, animals big and small, and art. She resides with her mother, Falon; stepfather, Lester; brother, Jacob, 7, and sister, Emily, 19 months.
Kennedy was born with a genetic disease called Alagille Syndrome, an autosomal dominant disorder associated with abnormalities of the liver, heart, skeleton, eye, and kidneys and a characteristic facial appearance. Alagille Syndrome has caused major damage to Kennedy’s liver and has affected her heart.
Up until this year, her life was her own “happy normal” adventure. Doctor visits, procedures, frequent blood work and testing, and often long drives to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia have all been part of her everyday life, along with taking an array of medications daily. In July, Kennedy started becoming more jaundice and more and more itchy. Blood work confirmed that her liver enzymes and bilirubin levels were rising and have continued to rise. In that short window of time, she has had to give up her extra curricular activities. She frequently leaves school due to tiredness and discomfort. She has problems focusing and keeping up with schoolwork and peers. Her energy is slowly depleting. Doctors have confirmed that the next course of action will be a liver transplant.
The Wyoming Area Hockey Association invites you to join them for a fun evening while supporting and helping Kennedy achieve her dreams.

Exeter now has single stream recycling. Recycling will still be collected Mondays. All recyclables can now be placed in the same container and placed out weekly.
A flyer is in the white rural mailbox in front of the borough building with a list of what can and cannot be put out. Everything on the calendar is still recyclable, with the exception of shredded paper. Also, items are on the new list that weren’t picked up before.
Yard waste will still be collected Thursdays. Regular garbage is still collected Wednesdays.
Please do not use the yellow recycling bins for garbage. Place bags in regular garbage cans. There is a three-bag limit no matter what size the bag is, as long as it is less than 30 pounds. Do not place several small bags in your garbage can. Condense them into a larger bag.
Placing the garbage in a refuse can reduces the likelihood of an animal opening it. If animals do open your garbage, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to clean it up.
Refuse, recyclables and yard waste are to be placed curbside the night before pick up or by 6 a.m. the morning of collection.
