The Harlem Wizards are coming to Wyoming Area Secondary Center at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22. The evening will be a fun-filled event for kids and adults.

This event is hosted by the Wyoming Area Intermediate Center’s Parent Teacher Organization. The group is bringing The Wizards into town to help benefit the students at the Wyoming Area Intermediate Center.

At the Wizards game, fans will witness basketball talent combined with comedy. It is two hours of family time where parents, grandparents and kids can all laugh together. There also is plenty of audience participation. Throughout the game, fans will experience a display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing and aerodynamic athleticism combined with high energy comedy and audience interaction.

Tickets purchased before the event are $10 and can be purchased at the offices of the Wyoming Area Primary Center and Wyoming Area Intermediate Center. Tickets also will be available the day of the game at Wyoming Area Secondary Center starting at 5:30 p.m. for $12 and online at Preium/court side seating also is available and includes court side seating, a 10-minute meet and greet with two Wizards players 45 minutes before the game, a free giveaway and a $15 discount on a Wizards jersey.

W. Wyoming tax reminder

West Wyoming Tax Collector Robert F. Connors reminds residents the rebate period for the county/municipal taxes has ended.

Tax payments are now due at the face amount and can be paid from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the borough building.

If paying by mail, include a self addressed, stamped envelope if a receipt is requested.

Church bingo

The Social Concerns Committee at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish will sponsor a variety bingo Sunday, April 23, in the parish’s school gymnasium, located at 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and games begin at 1:30 p.m. Event also includes basket raffle and door prizes. Lunch menu, refreshments and bake sale also will be available. Admission is $5. Plenty of parking is available in the lot behind the church at Warsaw and Sidney streets.

Art ‘N’ Vino

Wyoming Free Library is hosting a special 90th anniversary Art ’N’ Vino event from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 24. The event will be held at the Art ’N’ Vino Paint and Sip Studio, 667 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre.

Wyoming U.M. food sale

Wyoming United Methodist Church is holding a chicken pot pie and macaroni and cheese fundraiser.

Orders must be placed by Thursday, April 27, for pickup from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 7.

Chicken pot pies cost $6.50 and macaroni and cheese is $5.

Senior casino trip

Cosmopolitan Senior Citizens have scheduled a trip to the Sands Casino on Thursdays, April 20, May 11, and June 22, followed by a trip to the Hollywood Casino on Wednesday, July 19.

You do not have to be a club member to go on these trips.

Exeter refuse stickers

Exeter refuse stickers for 2017 are on sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. The price will remain the same, $180 for regular stickers and $130 for seniors.

The refuse office is at 1101 Wyoming Ave. To send for your sticker, please send a check or money order in a self addressed, stamped envelope to Exeter Borough Refuse, 1101 Wyoming Ave., Exeter, PA 18643.

West Wyoming yard waste

West Wyoming Borough’s yard waste program has begun. Collection dates are Thursday, April 20, for residents living in the Atherton Park section, up to but not including Eighth Street. Residences on Eighth Street, up to the Exeter line, will have their scheduled collection Thursday, April 27. Thereafter, yard waste will be picked up on alternating Thursdays.

Residents are reminded to place yard waste out the night before in open containers and to bundle and tie any bushes, hedges or small trees in 3-foot lengths. Yard waste containers should not exceed 30 pounds. No plastic, stones or dirt allowed.

 West Wyoming recycling

West Wyoming Borough has made a change in the recycling program. The borough will be using single stream recycling.

Cans, paper, plastic and cardboard can be comingled together and deposited in any of the recycling containers located behind the fire department.

Glass recycling needs to be separated and deposited in the designated glass recycling container. Please do not throw garbage in the recycling containers.
