The Dupont Hose Company will hold a Spring Fling Dinner Dance from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Dupont Volunteer Hose Company Music will be provided by The Wanabees.

Little League opening day
Dupont/Avoca Little League will hold opening day at noon Saturday, April 22. There will be exhibition games for tee ball, coach pitch, minors and major teams throughout the day.
Free yoga class
The Pittston Area Zero Conflict Club will celebrate 50 years of Pittston Area with a Bending Back in Time night of yoga.
A free yoga class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in the Pittston Area High School gymnasium. No prior yoga experience is needed and the event is open to all ages. Lara Alexiou and Sara Butler will teach the class.
Please bring a beach towel or yoga mat.
Bob Price, centennial chairperson, announces a change in the upcoming Centennial Party in the Park and the 5K run. Originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 12, the event needed to be changed because the upcoming air show is scheduled for the same day.
So, mark your calendars. Party in the Park will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, and Sunday, Aug. 27, and the 5K run will be held Saturday, Aug. 26.
Clock donations will be accepted up to Sunday, April 30. The clock will be ordered and all engraving must accompany the order at that time.

VFW meeting, blood drive
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909 will hold its next monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the post home. Many items of importance will be discussed and reports given. Commander Mark Roney will preside.
The Home Association meeting will follow.
Food and refreshments will be served after both meetings.
Dupont VFW Post, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, conducts blood drives at the post home approximately six times a year. The next scheduled blood drive is from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16.
USS Independence reunion
Dupont Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4909’s Dick White announces the USS Independence CVA-62 28th reunion will be held in Buffalo, New York, from Aug. 23-27. All Navy, Marine and Air Squadrons personnel who served on the Independence and their families are welcome.

Dupont Lions Club’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday, April 15, at the Little League Park on Elm Street, beginning at 2 p.m.
Five hundred goody bags will litter the baseball field, filled with assorted candies, coupons and labeled Easter eggs showing different prizes. Students from Wyoming Area Catholic School, Exeter, decorated the bags for the event.
The hunt is broken down into three age groups: 0-3; 4-7 and 8-10. A bike will be awarded to a boy and girl in each age group. The Easter Bunny and Leonardo, the Leo Club mascot, will attend and help hunt for goody bags with the kids.
A paper shredding event will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the borough building.

Holy Mother of Sorrows
LuLaRoe Bingo sponsored by A.N.S. of Holy Mother of Sorrows will be held Saturday, May 13. Doors open at 1 p.m. and play starts at 2. Donation is $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Consultant Erin Colarusso will be on site so you can make sure you receive your correct size.
There will be food, baked goods and drinks available. No outside food is allowed in the hall.

Sacred Heart cleanup
Sacred Heart of Jesus Youth Group will hold an Earth Day cleanup of church properties Saturday, April 22. All members and volunteers are to meet in the church hall at 5 p.m. and the group will then proceed to the parking lot and cemetery for a cleanup of the grounds.

Holy Mother of Sorrows will bless Easter food on Holy Saturday, April 15, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the parish hall. Services include Holy Saturday, April 15, 10 a.m. liturgy of blessing of the fire, Easter candle and water and renewal of baptismal promises; Easter Sunday, April 16, 7 a.m. solemn procession and Holy Mass of the Resurrection and 10 a.m. Holy Mass of the Resurrection.
Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will continue the tradition of blessing Easter food on Holy Saturday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the church hall. The faithful are invited to bring the cooked food they will eat on Easter Sunday in baskets for blessing. Services will be held Holy Saturday, April 15, with 9 a.m. morning prayer and 8 p.m. Easter Vigil Mass. Easter Sunday, April 16, Masses are at 7:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m.
