The Pittston Jacquelines of Knights of Columbus Council 372 recently presented a $1,000 check to the John F. Kennedy Statue Committee. The project is a joint effort between members of several Pittston organizations. The Knights of Columbus Council 372, its women’s auxiliary the Jacquelines, and the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick worked with the city’s redevelopment authority to bring the project to fruition. The statue of President John F. Kennedy was erected on Kennedy Boulevard in July.
Donations are still being accepted for landscaping and upkeep of the statue area. Lighting and a plaque also will be added. Checks can be made paybale to the JFK Statue Fund and sent to 35 Broad St., Pittston.
