Jenkins Township wishes to remind its residents of an old ordinance, originally adopted by the township supervisors in 1994. Commonly referred to as the “Alarm Ordinance,” the rule requires any Jenkins Twp. resident who has a burglar or fire alarm installed in their home or who has a home with a pre-existing alarm, to register the alarm with the township. A $20 fee is due prior to installation, as well as a $20 yearly fee.
The township announced the fee for the 2017-18 year is due now. This year’s permit runs from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
For information about the ordinance, please contact the municipal building at 570-654-3315.
According to the township’s Facebook page, the ordinance is available to the public at the municipal building 46½ Main St., Inkerman.
