Wyoming Area Superintendent Janet M. Serino announces kindergarten registration for the 2018-19 school year will be held Friday, March 16, at the kindergarten center, 50 Penn Ave., Exeter.
Children with last names beginning with A to L will register from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Those with last names beginning with M to Z will register from 1 to 3 p.m.
Any child turning 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 should register their child for school.
The child should attend registration, as screenings will take place at this time.
Birth certificate, valid proof of residency and the following immunizations are required for the child to start school: Four doses of tetanus, with one dose given on or after the fourth birthday; four doses of diphtheria, with one dose on or after the fourth birthday; three doses of polio; two doses or measles; two doses of mumps; one dose of rubella (German Measles); three doses of hepatitis B; two doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity.
The tetanus vaccination is usually given as DTP or DT or Td and the measles, mumps and rubella vaccination is usually given as MMR.

Kevin Booth, superintendent of the Pittston Area School District, announced registration of students who plan on attending kindergarten in the district for the 2018-19 school year will be held through March 7. All students attending kindergarten in the next school year must be 5 years old by Aug. 31, 2018.
Parents may register by: Accessing the online registration site www.pittstonarea.com and completing all required information by Tuesday, March 7, which is the preferred method.
Returning a completed registration packet and copies of required documentation to the administrative office, 5 Stout St., Yatesville, by Wednesday, March 7. Registration packets also can be picked up at the administrative office, if necessary.
Kindergarten screening will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, March 12, through Thursday, March 15, at the primary center, Rock Street, Hughestown. A parent or guardian must bring the student to the primary center during the screening. Each child will receive hearing and vision screenings. Children also will receive a Reading Readiness Assessment, which is an assessment of pre-reading skills, consisting of two parts: identifying letters of the alphabet and phonemic awareness assessment. Lastly, immunization history will be reviewed. All students registering must adhere to the school vaccination requirements set forth by Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Students will be screened alphabetically according to the child’s last name: A-F, Monday, March 12; G-L, Tuesday, March 13; M-R, Wednesday, March 14, and S-Z, Thursday, March 15.
