Kevin Booth, superintendent of the Pittston Area School District, announced registration of students who plan on attending kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year will be held through March 22. All students must be 5 years old by Aug. 31. Parents may register by accessing www.pittstonarea.com and completing all required information by March 22, which is the preferred method, or by returning a completed registration packet and copies of required documentation to the administrative office, 5 Stout St., Pittston, by March 22. Registration packets can be picked up at the administrative office. The kindergarten screening process will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. March 27-30 at the Pittston Area Primary Center, Rock Street, Hughestown. A parent or guardian must bring the student to the primary center. Students will be screened alphabetically according to the child’s last name: A-F, March 27; G-L, March 28; M-R, March 29, and S-Z, March 30. Each child will receive hearing and vision screenings. Immunization history will be reviewed. The following immunizations are required: four doses of diphtheria and tetanus vaccine (one dose administered on or after the fourth birthday); three doses of polio vaccine; three doses of hepatitis B vaccine; two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); two doses varicella vaccine (chicken pox) or proof of disease.
