The Pittston Twp. Sewer Authority recently sent letters to the residents of Suscon about the Suscon Sewer Project and the installation of the new sewer line.
Residents can now begin hooking up to the mainline only with a permit. Residents can get a permit application at the municipal building, 421 Broad St., Pittston Twp. from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Permit applications also will be available from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, or you can call to schedule an appointment at 570-655-8748.
In the spirit of the holiday season, the Pittston Township Ambulance Association is once again hosting a Christmas holiday fundraiser. The ambulance association is selling Christmas wreathes, door swags, center pieces and cemetery crosses. Anyone interested may view the full color brochure at www.ptaa-ems.com and click on “Our Christmas Store.”
Ordering is simple, send an email to the ambulance association at firstname.lastname@example.org, with the desired item(s) and quantities, as well as your name and phone number. You will receive a confirmation email for your order. All orders must be received by 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.
All orders will be sent directly to the Pittston Township Ambulance station. You will be notified by both email and phone when your order has arrived and it is ready to be picked up at the Pittston Township Ambulance Station, 24 Bryden St. between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, or Saturday, Dec. 2. Payment is due when you pick up your order. Checks can be made payable to the Pittston Township Ambulance Association. Cash will be accepted, as well.
If you wish to order something as a gift, direct shipment to locations out of the area is available. Let the ambulance association know to whom and where the items are being shipped. A personalized gift card can be included, as well. Shipping will be between Nov. 27 and Dec. 7.

Jenkins Lions anniversary
Congratulations to the Jenkins Twp. Lions Club, which recently observed its 59th charter anniversary with a dinner at Tony’s Pizza. The speaker for the evening was attorney Michael Lombardo, from the Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance.

Pittston Area, Class of 1977, reunion
Pittston Area, Class of 1977, is hosting its 40th class reunion Saturday, Nov. 25, at the St. Maria Goretti Parish Banquet Hall, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin. Those who have already purchased tickets are reminded the evening begins with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner from 7 to 8 p.m., and partying and dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. with music all night provided by DJ Charlie Hayes. There will also be an open bar from 6 to 11 p.m.
Pittston Twp. leaf collection
Pittston Twp. will have a leaf collection for residents. Leaves will be picked up Tuesday, Nov. 14, and Wednesday, Nov. 15, with the schedule being as follows:
Nov. 14: Upper and Lower Browntown, Cork Lane, including Tedrick and Market streets, just west of the Pittston By-Pass, Stauffer Heights, Center Street, Laurel Street, Doty Street, Mill Street, Horizon Estates and Stauffer Pointe.
Nov. 15: Butler Heights, Route 315, Suscon, Pocono Ridge Estates, Houston City, Glendale, Route 502 and Quail Hill.
All leaves must be in containers or in paper bags.

Pittston Twp. Crime Watch
Pittston Twp. Crime Watch will no longer meet on a monthly basis.
Those interested in the group can still stay current on the group’s activities and happenings in the community through social media. The Pittston Twp. Crime Watch Facebook page has 345 people following it. To build on this interest, Frank Sciabacucchi is going to try and expand on the group’s social media presence. He also spoke with Crime Watch officials from neighboring towns and is trying to form a Crime Watch Alliance.
Pittston Twp. Crime Watch still hopes to hold meetings from time to time. They just no longer will be on a monthly basis. The frequency of the meetings has not been determined.

Pittston Twp. meeting
The monthly meeting of the Pittston Twp. Supervisors is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the municipal building, 421 Broad St.
Pittston Twp. wishes to remind its residents to always have dogs on a leash and to not leave any waste on any street, sidewalk, passageway, park or any other public area where people congregate, or on any private property.
The dog owner must immediately pick up, remove and dispose of any waste in a sanitary manner.
The 2017 Pittston Area school tax bills are now at face value until Nov. 26. The county and municipal taxes are now at penalty value until Dec. 29.
The Jenkins Twp. tax office will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays. The tax office is now at the Jenkins Twp. Municipal Building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman. If these hours are an inconvenience, appointments can be made by calling Jenkins Twp. Tax Collector Jean Mudlock at 570-654-9710.
Pittston Twp. Tax Collector Rita Timonte can be contacted at her home office, 12 E. Oak St., or 570-654-8807. Office hours are scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays.
Payments can be sent anytime in the mail. Postmark will be accepted as the payment date. If a receipt is required, please send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with payment to the tax office. If you are a new property owner and have not received your bill or if you received a bill in error, please contact the tax collector.
Jenkins Crime Watch
Jenkins Twp. Crime Watch will not meet in November and December. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the municipal building, 46½ Main St., Inkerman.

The Jenkins Township Board of Supervisors will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the Jenkins Municipal Building, 46 ½ Main St, Inkerman.
The Jenkins Twp. Planning Commission’s next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the municipal building, 46 ½ Main St., Inkerman.
Meetings of the Jenkins Twp. Senior Citizens Organization are held the third Tuesday of each month, with some exceptions.
The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Jenkins Twp. Hose Company, 2 Second St. The meeting is being held a week early due to Thanksgiving.
