Wyoming Area Superintendent Janet M. Serino announced kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year will take place Friday, March 24, at the Kindergarten Center, 50 Penn Ave., Exeter.
Students with last names beginning with A to L will register from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and those with last names beginning with M to Z will register from 1 to 3 p.m.
Any child turning 5 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2017 should register for school. Parents/guardians should bring their child to registration, as kindergarten screenings will take place.
Birth certificate, valid proof of residency and the following immunizations are required for a child to enter school: four doses of tetanus, with one dose on or after the fourth birthday and four doses of diphtheria, with one dose on or after the fourth birthday, usually given as DTP or DT or Td; three doses of polio; two doses of measles, two doses of mumps, and one dose of rubella (German measles), usually given as MMR; three doses of hepatitis B, and two doses of varicella (chickenpox) or evidence of immunity

Kevin Booth, superintendent of the Pittston Area School District, announced registration of students who plan on attending kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year will be held through March 22. All students must be 5 years old by Aug. 31.
Parents may register by accessing www.pittstonarea.com and completing all required information by March 22, which is the preferred method, or by returning a completed registration packet and copies of required documentation to the administrative office, 5 Stout St., Pittston, by March 22. Registration packets can be picked up at the administrative office.
The kindergarten screening process will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. March 27-30 at the Pittston Area Primary Center, Rock Street, Hughestown. A parent or guardian must bring the student to the primary center.
Students will be screened alphabetically according to the child’s last name: A-F, March 27; G-L, March 28; M-R, March 29; S-Z, March 30. Each child will receive hearing and vision screenings. Children also will receive a reading readiness assessment, which is an assessment of pre-reading skills, consisting of two parts: identifying letters of the alphabet and phonemic awareness assessment.
Immunization history will be reviewed. The following immunizations are required: four doses of diphtheria and tetanus vaccine (one dose administered on or after the fourth birthday); three doses of polio vaccine; three doses of hepatitis B vaccine; two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); two doses varicella vaccine (chicken pox) or proof of disease.
