Rich and Cathy Rusnok, of Port Griffith, are celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary Oct. 7, 2017. They were married Oct. 7, 1972 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, at a Mass concelebrated by the late Rev. Charles Matusek, the late Rev. Thomas Hannigan and the late Monsignor Francis Callahan.
They are the parents of two sons: Lieutenant Colonel Richard M. Rusnok Jr., USMC, and his wife, Kara, of Iwakuni, Japan, and Ryan C. Rusnok, DO and his wife, Jennifer Hanson Rusnok, DO, of Shavertown. Rich and Cathy have two grandsons, Richard Michael III and Kieran James and one granddaughter, Genevra, all residing in Japan.
Cathy graduated from the former St. John the Evangelist High School and Marywood University. She retired from the Pittston Area School District and is currently employed on the staff of St. John the Evangelist Parish Community. She is the daughter of the late Frolindo and Pauline Spadi, of Port Griffith.
Rich graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Scranton and received his undergraduate degree from King’s College and master’s degree from Auburn University, Alabama. He is employed as a private consultant to the wireless industry. He is the son of the late John and Theresa Rusnok, of Dunmore.
