Area Agency on Aging of Luzerne/Wyoming Counties reminds participants of the 2017 Senior Farmers Market Voucher Program to redeem vouchers by Nov. 30.
These vouchers can only be used to purchase locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers market stands that are participants of the Department of Agriculture’s voucher program. Baked goods, meat, jam, honey, apple cider or eggs are not eligible for purchase with these vouchers.

Falls Active Adult Center, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne/Wyoming counties, offers the following activities:
Mondays: Nutrition talks at lunch; bingo following lunch.
Tuesdays: Craft club meets 10:30 a.m. to noon; Geri-Fit, 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
Wednesdays: Men’s and women’s coffee club from 10 to 11:45 a.m.
Thursdays: Bingo following lunch.
Fridays: Geocaching activity, 9:30 a.m. to noon; Geri-Fit, 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 2: Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m., “How to Stay Young for the First 100 Years”
Monday, Nov. 6: Book club meets at 10:30 a.m. to discuss “The Aviators Wife” by Melanie Benjamin. Beth Rutkowski is the facilitator.
Monday, Nov. 6: Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. Registered nurses from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital will discuss “Arthritis Effects and Treatments.”

Thursday, Nov. 9: Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. Mary Reeves, LSW, from The Gardens, will discuss “How to Maintain Healthy Kidneys.”

Friday, Nov. 10: Center will be closed in observance of Veterans Day
Tuesday, Nov. 14: Center will close at 11 a.m. for meeting. There will be a bag lunch available to those interested.
Wednesday. Nov. 15: Veterans Day special musical presentation at 12:45 p.m. by Col. James May, retired, U.S. Marine Corp. Col. May was the head chaplain at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia. The Falls native also did a stint as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp Band in Washington, D.C.
Thursday, Nov. 16: A nurse from The Meadows will be at the center from 12:25 to 12:50 p.m. to check blood pressure. Melissa Margotti from The Meadows will call bingo after the presentation.
Friday, Nov. 17: Mobile Food Bank is available to all age groups. Volunteers are needed at 9 a.m. to help package food for the pantry. Contact Twila to sign up.
Monday, Nov. 20: Lunch & Learn at 12:15 p.m. with Frank Cawley, MPT, from Cawley Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy. He will give a talk on “Low Back Pain: Causes and Ways to Treat Without Surgery”
Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24: Center will be closed to observe Thanksgiving.
Anyone wishing to visit the center for a hot meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those 60 and older should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before.
The center, located on Route 92, Exeter Twp., is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
