Wyoming Area Catholic recently held its annual poetry fair. Every year, students in grades four to eight are invited to write an original poem. Students competed in two levels, varsity and junior varsity. The poems were then judged by English teachers in a local school system. The criteria used by the judges was originality, style, mood, line endings and line breaks. Winners included, first row, from left, Ava Newman, second place, varsity; Anna Weiss, honorable mention, junior varsity; Katie Morgan, fourth place, junior varsity; Mark Talarico, honorable mention, junior varsity, and Benecio Carpentier, first place, junior varsity. Second row: James Renfer, moderator; Jonathan Renfer, honorable mention, varsity; Callen McCarroll, third place, varsity; Ethan Kozden, honorable mention, varsity; Michael Tkach, fourth grade, varsity; Carissa Benderavich, first place, varsity, and Jaden Exter, second place, junior varsity.
