Wyoming Area Kiwanis Club recently received a grant from the Pennsylvania Kiwanis Foundation for $1,500 to supply local EMS units with Trauma Bears to comfort young children facing stressful situations. The Kiwanis Club will supply the bears in conjunction with its two sponsored Builders Clubs from Wyoming Area and Wyoming Area Catholic schools. Wyoming Area Kiwanis President Bob Orlando thought of the project and utilized the assistance of Region Director Mike Coolbaugh to contact local EMS units about the availability of the bears. The bears will be adorned with Kiwanis blue colors and will have the Kiwanis and Builder Club logos on the front. Club Secretary Tiffany Callaio said the bears will be a link between the Builders Clubs and young children in the community who are the victims of traumatic emergency situations such as automobile accidents, house fires or domestic violence. The bears will hopefully provide comfort to those affected children.
